The Date 18/6/2010 to 22/6/2010;
This is my 1st diving trip in year 2010. Feeling so excited to start my journey....
What i expect to see? What kind of dive site would it be? would it be fun? so many question mark in my mind..
Lets talk about Layang-Layang...
Layang-layang is the most far island in Malaysia and it located in south china sea. Depart from Kota Kinabalu transit by flight (MAS Wing) takes 300km journey to arriving at destination.
The Avillion is the only resort in this island. The resort only operate 6 months a year; from March to June.
This island most recommended to the divers because the beauty of this island is under the sea. Most of the divers come here for hammerhead sharks therefore its' became the hotspot of this island. The only activity on the surface is the bird sanctuary.
This island provide 3 times dive a day; 8am, 11am and 3pm. unlimited house reef if u wish to go and it is Free of Charge but no divemaster provided. There is a charges of RM150/pax for the night dive.
I did 7 dives for this trip. I tried for the underwater photography too and wish to see unexpected marine life which only appear in this island - manta ray and hammmerhead sharks.
I tried so hard in all the dive and the depth breaks my dive record. unfortunately i got nothing. Due to deep dive that i did and i got ear infections and also something happen to the camera.. water licking in!
Maybe it is not a right time for us to come to this island. Lot of marine life that we hope to see doesn't appear even the pygmy seahorse - the residence here also went to holiday. we can only enjoy to see the exotically beautiful scenery under the water.
I will say that Layang-layang is a good place to stay. the visibility underwater is about 20m to 30m. underwater temperature about 30'C.
I spent 5 days 4 night stay in this island although its a bit of disappointed but at least i do experience those deep dive which i never experience before. I do enjoying this diving trip and I having unexpected Joy and fun with all the divers.
Nice job Amy. Even a bit frustrated that we didn't see any HHS, I did enjoy my time in birds island.
